Overview
The WIPS (Wireless IP Serial Server) provides easy and reliable serial to Ethernet connectivity for the industrial automation market. The WIPS can be used to connect any serial device to IEEE 802.11 b/g network, and provide TCP server and TCP client modes to ensure the compatibility of network software.
The WIPS provides the serial device server for Windows hosts to control serial devices located virtually anywhere through a TCP/IP network. In industrial networking, administrators often encounter wiring problem with serial devices. The WIPS is designed to connect the hard-to-wire serial devices. Applications include industrial/factory automation, automatic warehouse control, and hospital/laboratory automation.
The WIPS Windows driver installs a virtual COM on windows which maps the virtual COM port to the IP address of the WIPS device across the network, enabling the Windows applications to access rem
ote serial devices over Ethernet. |
